CoRal Transplant 2002

PERHENTIAN KECIL,April 2002: After the success story of Project Aware 2002, Malaysian Coral Reef Conservation Society (CoRal Malaysia) was formed to ensure the inspiration that developed a group of divers did not dissolve with the current of the sea.

Cooperation between CoRal, resort owner of Suria Perhentian, CoRal main sponsor, Shell Malaysia and Taman Laut Terengganu, we moved one step further by introducing active coral transplanting methods for habitat enhancement and coral reef restoration.

Hence, with the first ‘coral transplant’ project in April, CoRal Malaysia with its 40 members, created their own history when it became the first association to officially conduct a joint venture with Taman Laut Malaysia and to plant the first public ‘coral garden’ in this country.
