Panggilan
Pulau 2005
PULAU
PERHENTIAN, May, 2005 : Panggilan
Pulau or Island Call, was a community
program targeting more that two thousand
villagers of Perhentian Island.
The program was created
in the wake of the tsunami tragedy that
grieved the whole world in December
2004. The objective was to say thank
you to all the villagers who took care
of Malaysia’s islands.
Supported by many agencies
and corporate friends, it also marked
the first involvement of the State of
Terengganu in a CoRal Malaysia program.
With funding from the
State Government, activities ranged
from donations to old folks, drawing
with the ‘rakyat’ (people),
mural for the one and only school on
the island, a football competition,
ocean and beach clean up, a ‘khenduri‘
or feast for the villagers and closed
with a concert by well known singer,
Zainal Abidin, a CoRal Malaysia Ambassador.
